TEXTILE SURFACE PRINT, DIGITAL DESIGN

Through our sessions you will learn and understand the capabilities of designing textile surface prints using digital software Adobe illustrator and Photoshop. The software will help you create, patterns, repeats, engineered that can be then prepared for print on textile fabrics.

To get the best out of the sessions we do ask that individuals already have experience of using the packages as it will be taught by Industry Masters that use these techniques through their design work in the creative industry and develop knowledge of the processes involved with digital printing textile designs onto fabric.

EXPLORE DIFFERENT ELEMENTS THROUGH THE SESSIONS

Through the sessions the Industry Master will support the learners that are aspiring product and interior designers, fashion and textiles to create digital textile surface prints, repeats and engineered.

ELEMENTS THAT CAN BE COVERED BY OUR INDUSTRY MASTERS THROUGH THE SESSIONS;

- Creating seamless repeats in Illustrator & Photoshop

- Understanding digital coated fabrics and their properties

- Testing then exporting a single block that can be used by a third party.

- The brushes and their capability within Illustrator, especially pattern brushes made from several pattern tiles

- Testing patterns and creating several scales and colour ways

- Accurate geometric patterns

- Accurate circular/serpentine patterns

- Half drop, third drop vertical and horizontal patterns

- Seamless patterns in Photoshop

- Copying an existing pattern and adapting to different uses

- Using tools to create simple colour palettes and applying this to patterns

- Creating predictable colour

- Getting things ready for your printers

- Have some drawings, photographs that will inspire your designs

- Preparing an image: scanning and cleaning

- Creating pattern designs using Adobe Photoshop

- Creating and editing vector shapes using Adobe Illustrator

- (Direct learners can access our online and in person sessions through the learning platform once we have received a completed application form which has been assessed, and the session tuition fees are paid in full).

The sessions provide an experience to understand more about the different types of embellishments that can be created to add to a creative portfolio or project. Enjoy being taught by our Industry Master that are working in the creative industry and be introduced to the standards and practices used. Explore and experiment with yourskills to create unique designs and embellishments.

It is important to have an understanding of fabrics especially if you are interested in working in the creative, fashion and textiles industries. The fabric construction sessions look at how different fabrics can be depending on their construction cost, quality and characteristics.

Through the sessions the Industry Master will provide an overview and insight into into textile sourcing and embellishment design creation.

- Explore different techniques and how to produce a range of creative pieces for your portfolio or project

- Introduced to different fabrics and unique materials that can be used for embellishment and collage creation

- Embroidery and machine stitching with thread, plastic and wool onto fabric

- How to recognise different fibres in fabrics and see what to look for when sourcing

- Learn about natural, sustainable, manmade fabrics and their origins and properties
