Modern Slavery Statement and Human trafficking Statement

OUR COMMITMENT

 

As a business, THE HOUSE OF RADHA puts people at the heart of our decision-making, values and ethos. It is our priority to uphold the human rights of the individuals who produce our sustainable garments and print our unique abstract designs.

 

We have a zero-tolerance position on the violations of the UK’s Modern Slavery Act and if we find that any of our suppliers and collaborative partners is in breach of the legislation, we will make sure to address this urgently and support them in the most appropriate way to comply.

 

We are committed to supporting industry to tackle poor practices and protect those people that are vulnerable in the global supply chains to make sure they are kept safe and cared for. In accordance with Section 54, Part 6 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (the Act), this statement sets out the steps that THE HOUSE OF RADHA has taken to ensure that slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in our supply chains or any part of our business. It has been approved by the CEO of the company and will be reviewed annually.

 

ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

 

THE HOUSE OF RADHA is a private company limited by guarantee, incorporated in England and Wales. We supply fashion design products and accessories that are manufactured in the UK and internationally through our suppliers.  We also provide an educational and employability skills service teaching learners through educational institutions and remote online learning.

 

Our suppliers are based in the UK and produce various sustainable fashion products in the EU and Asia.  They are responsible for providing a safe environment and conditions for their employees by the governing legislation. They use professionally qualified people to produce the products and are in alignment with our values and policies to ensure fair treatment to all that work with them that complies with the Modern Slavery and Human trafficking statement.

 

OVERVIEW OF TRAINING

 

Our recruitment practices ensure compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Policies are in place to check employees have the right to work in the UK. We are proactive in educating and creating awareness throughout the company, with our collaborative partners and suppliers.  We also provide training to members on the subject of modern slavery and our policies to address the risks to help increase education and awareness throughout the business.

 

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

 

Everyone is treated with the utmost respect and fairly to create a positive working environment in person and working remotely.  We pride ourselves on being transparent and a trusted organisation that outlines its policy and procedures that support the Modern Slavery Act with our culture and brand ethos.

 

We include the following procedures to address modern slavery risk include:

 

-    Making it clear to suppliers the code of conduct and the standards we expect

-    Have a strategy to support our company members to discuss the importance of physical and mental wellbeing

-    Fair and clear recruitment process in line with relevant employment laws and taking into account market-related pay

-    Promote a fair and inclusive workplace that supports diversity, equality and inclusivity throughout the company and suppliers to share good practices and

     positive values

-    A process to handle complaints raised by people internally and externally of the company

-    Continue to review key risk areas in our business and our supply chains at the local, national, and international levels

 

SUPPLIER DUE DILIGENCE

 

As part of our due diligence process, we assess companies thoroughly before confirming to work with them, taking into account their good reputation, and compliance with the Modern Slavery Act so that they align with our values and they invest in creating a positive working environment.

 

We will only seek to trade and collaborate with suppliers, who comply with the modern slavery legislation or those who take steps towards compliance, so they align with our company.  Ensuring that they follow strong ethical standards and practices is important part of this work and incorporated into our terms and conditions.
